Did you run Setup.exe first?
Composer: You may have missed that while you were having problems with the EMS. I'm still messing with it though, so if that does'nt work just send me an email because I also found a small error at the beginning of my code! Sven: Was it your code that I recieved in my email? If so, you really ...

That is'nt the problem.
I compiled it as a stand-alone executable file(Pacman.exe), so you don't need the bi-files if you run that program. As for the EMS thing, Yeah, she is a memory HAWG! It takes a butt-load of EMS to store 280+ 64x64 24BIT sprites and 4 full 640x480 screen-pages! ::)

Here's the URL for a copy of Futlib.
http://piptol.qbasicnews.com/files/fl35.zip
If you still can't get it to work then send it to my email. I'll see if I can help.
Wanna see a project of mine using Future45?

Re: Memory Overflow Error
You have to load the library from the command line. If your using QBX(7.1) there a few more options that you can play with, but to get the library to load all you have to do is type this in at the command line "C:\QBX\QBX.exe /L Future71 /AH" http://www.terraworld.net/davidstanley/Files/CmdLine.gif ...

Try this...
REM $DYNAMIC
It does'nt matter if it's before the sub declarations or not.
What DIR do you have your copy of QB in?

Here's a command line sample...
C:\QB45\QB.EXE /L QB /AH /MBF If your running under windows, then just right click on QB, click properties, then program. Look down on the window to where it says Cmd line. That is what you need to modify. If your running in dos, then all you have to do is type in the command line as shown when you ...

Re: SOUND x%, 0.00001
FOR Divisor% = 10 TO 10000 SOUND Divisor% + 27, Lent! Lent! = (18.2 / Divisor%) PRINT Lent! NEXT As you can see, QB can't play sounds that short. I don't know why, but it can't. Maybe the human ear just can't hear it! I've never checked to see where it stops, but it is'nt nearly as...

Re: Memory Overflow Error
Actually, I think you should post a sample of what you are doing. There are alot of people that can help more than I can, but hey, I'll give it a shot.

Re: Memory Overflow Error
Add '$DYNAMIC at the top of your code. You also need to add the /AH option to the QB4.5 command line. It allows dynamic arrays to be larger than 64K each. If you don't understand, then just look up command line options in the QB help file under contents. If that does'nt work then you can try SETMEM....

Re: help with searching and files
I noticed that you used the syntax "STRING * 20". You might try to incorporate Rtrim$ into your code or you might try to use the exact same TYPE definition for both variables. TYPE testRecord test AS STRING * 20 END TYPE DIM test AS testRecord 'DIM test2$(1 TO 4) Instead of that... :' Try this...

I don't know about more efficient but, a while back I used BSAVE and BLOAD to save/load the maze DATA on a PAC-MAN clone that I made! It's all gone now,(I have a new PC and it was experimental code), but it was alot FASTER than anything else I could conjure up! 8) OOPs... did I post that? Oh m...

Re: Subs vs. Gosubs
I use SUB alot more than GOSUB for the simple reason that they are easier to use.Well, "I think they are". Umm... Maybe not easier just more convenient! Passing an argument to a SUB keeps that part of the program in a "room" by itself. It's easier to organize that way, plus you can call it from anywh...

I don't know why that would happen but you could probably just cut\paste a new copy of QB over the old one.I dunno...
