You wrote, in part: So, v4.5 it is. How do I get it? Is there a site somewhere that I can go to and download it? I understand it is free, but since this is all so new to me, I am not sure how to best approach this. If I download QuickBasic 4.5 will I have evertything I need to begin my educational p...

QuickBASIC 4.5 is version 4.5 of the program QuickBASIC, and QuickBASIC 7.1 is version 7.1 of that same program and is the "latest". However, version 4.5 seems to be very, very popular, much more so than 7.1. Many, many folk are quite content with version 4.5. And, my honest opinion is that "the bes...

Here is a method of reducing all those lines of code. I put the basics in the following little program. If you have any questions, let me know. CLS B: INPUT "Enter a number from 0 to 2, or 100 to end program ";N IF N >= 0 AND N <= 2 THEN ON N + 1 GOTO 0, 1, 2 ELSEIF N = 100 THEN END ELSE PRINT N; "i...

One more thing to be looking out for! I have found that, sometimes, I may have an incomplete loop nested inside a compete one, and the debugger points to the complete one! It takes a while to find problems of this nature. But, the best advice is that given previously: Make absolutely sure you indent...

RIGHT$ problem
Hmm... I like to find one answer at a time, so: If your first reading is: "answer|question " then the INSTR function should return 7, not 9, as "|" is the 7th character in the string "answer|question". So, how about clearing up this discrepancy first? With 9 as the answer, "r|question" is correct. C...

I'm sure many of us can help you. However, your question is too general! Please post again, with a specific example of what you want to input and what you want to output as a translation.

A "few days" have gone by, and, nobody has posted a reply to my post. I sure wish some guru in this would reply with a few good answers and solutions to the problem with graphics commands in QuickBASIC and Windows XP.

Harry, I don't have qbx.exe (What is qbx.exe, anyway? Never heard of it before), only qb.exe, so, I tried your suggestion with qb.exe, did it all, tried the program I have been using that runs, shows the screen for a few seconds, then minimizes. Got the same result! :( I did manage to run the progra...

Re: writing quotes to files
At the risk of duplicating what's been stated abovve, here's a short chunk of code to illustrate, from my own program which does what you want to do: PRINT #4, "<link rel="; CHR$(34); "stylesheet"; CHR$(34); " title="; CHR$(34); "Stylesheet"; CHR$(34); " href="; CHR$(34); "../home.css"; CHR$(34); "...
