Can I list library contents and find the purpose of each entry

I think the LIB command from the command prompt will tell you what
routines are in the library. Now as to what those routines do, that's another
matter. Even the calling sequence is probably not shown.
Check the help option and look for LIB in the contents if you don't have a manual.
