They often are used to invoke the command line switches that you use or to adjust what screen mode it should use (full or window), what font, how the memory should be configred, and so forth. These Are usua...

Re: help!!!!!!!
well, i wasnt too sure about this one: LET answer=(1/denumerator(1)) * numerator(1) b/c it just seems to be more work than neccesary to get the decimal form of the fraction. this will return the same answer, only it uses fewer operations and no parenthesis. This makes it easier to read and faster wh...

Try this out, u made a few simple mistakes, and i made some changes to simplify the 'fraction making' process DECLARE SUB enter (numerator!(), denumerator!(), op$(), count!) DECLARE SUB process (numerator!(), denumerator!(), op$(), count!, answer!) DECLARE FUNCTION plus! (numerator!(), denumerator!(...

Re: QBasic games
qbasic programs usually do not require setup. Locate a file with the extension .exe, it should have a similar name or initials after the title of the game. This should be the way to start the game, unless, of course, it is uncompiled, thats a whole 'nother ball game....

Re: arrays, sequential files
well to close a file in qbasic, u must use close #1, not close file #1. now, about arrays: One dimensional arrays are kind of like a divided drawer. You only want one kind of information in a particular drawer, and inside that drawer you want the information organized or ordered in some way as so yo...

Re: Few questions
Hey there! I wrote an entire program based on this purpose and built a box with solid state relays to control light strings and spots. i can send you a snippit of my source. So, since you tested it, you figuered out how to tell the printer port to turn led's on? sending a number from 0 to 255 to the...

1) When you first start quickbasic, look at the bottom before you press anything, the version will be displayed there. 2) You cannot split the window to output AND code, however, you can run the debugger by pressing F8 and going through the code line by line, pressing F4 to see the output at each po...

Re: Searching a file for a string
Thats a pretty good way to go about doing what u wanted, and it looks like it should work, but there are a few things u should do differently. You are missing the point of a function. a function is used much like a variable. Instead of running a sub like this: Dostuff (foo%) U call it like this: Foo...

Re: QBasic WRITE
Your problem is fairly simple. You are using an inappropriate command for what u are doing. Check out the Online help for WRITE and for PRINT # heres an important part about write The WRITE # statement, unlike the PRINT # statement, inserts commas between items as they are written to the file. You d...
