Re: DOS printers
well, it all depends on the communications cable used, if it is LPT or SERIAL, than it is probably compatible with DOS, if it is USB or sumthing else, than forget it.
note: some USB printers have a LPT cable port as well

Re: DOS printers
the Canon printer i bought had both serial & USB connections & i installed it thru the serial port 1st & it didNOT work ... its a WIN/?? only printer.
Has anyone purchased a new printer lately & use it with QB? if so, what kind do you have? i'm afraid my old Canon wont last much longer lol
------------------MOVED FROM TOPIC "PRINTERS"------------
im confused: apparently im missing something or im not defining my situation correctly, so i'll try again: im running QB7.1 under Win/XP on a P4.
i installed a Canon S400 on my serial port and canNOT get DOS, QB to print to it. Anybody know why? & how i might fix it? Other programs [eg, Word/XP, etc] print fine on it.
Being short of time, i installed my S400 on a USB port & connected my old Canon BJ-200 on the serial port and now DOS, QB, etc prints fine.
i checked w/Canon & they said something about the S400 not being compatible with DOS, but if im running under W/XP, doesnt W/XP do ALL the print spooling, including DOS output.
Another way of asking the question is: do i have to have a dedicated DOS printer for DOS, QB, etc and another printer for Windoze ???
Thx

Re: DOS printers
You Probably wont like this, but ur best bet if you want to print your source code, is to save the file as a txt (ASCII) file and open it in note/word pad and print from there.
Re: DOS printers
DATAFILE$ = "TEST.TXT"
DS$ = "start/m wordpad /p " + DATAFILE$
SHELL DS$
This works great.
