opening .lnk files?

I can't tell if it's my computer or my programming. In qbasic, can you open .lnk files? Because I tried to open one in my code, and it said bad command or file name. I'm sure the code was correct. So, what do I do now?

why is nobody responding? i could use .lnk files, or I could try to get around the spaces in the folder directory (like "Documents and Settings"), so I could run the actual target .exe file (if u didn't know, qbasic doesnt understand spaces in directories). please, please help. i'm desperate. please e-mail results to bpeters@burntmail.com; can't sign up
