Still quite popular especially QuickBasic (rather than qbasic).
In my opinion it's a good place to start for the new programmer.

My reason for programming QBasic is besause i like to "hang out in dos", and i'll promise you, it is a hell to try installing .NET framework in dos

I usually programm in VB.NET, but since QBasic is very similiar i think it is great to use on my virtual pc with dos 6.22 and windows 3.11.

In another site, "QbasicNews.com", a survey of QB users seem to conclude that the greatest number of users claim:
1. It is an easy language to learn and use.
2. The IDE and Editor is very user friendly.
3. One is only one click away (using a Shortcut to qb.exe) from the IDE, where one can immediately start programming or testing one line in the immediate mode.
4. The IDE and Editor's screen colors are very easy on the eyes.

And, many recommend it as "the best language for a beginner", with many tutorials available from a number of sites.
