Space Invaders is a good idea too though. That's also one of the first games I made... as with most people I think. Here's a couple of tips though: Try to use user defined data types, for instance: TYPE EnemyStuff X as INTEGER Y as INTEGER END TYPE Dim Enemy(1 to 10) as EnemyStuff Then you can use t...

Well, if your image is missing pixels like that, it's usually due to not allocating enough memory to store the image. The standard formula for screen 13 is: MemSize% = ((ImageWidth% * ImageHeight%) / 2) + 2 As for a .bmp loader, there are tons of them around. Here's one that uses assembly! ' Bmpload...

Yep! Right now it supports Screen 12 & 13. You can also specify other arguments. For example, you can call... SCREEN 640, 480, 16, True ...which sets the screen's horizontal factor to 640, the vertical factor to 480, the bit-depth to 16 and sets full screen mode to True(-1). It supports Line, Pset, ...

I'm still using WinME, but I just bought my daughter a new computer for Christmas with WinXP Home Edition installed. Out of curiosity, I burned some demos to a cd and they ran fine on it. :D One of the QB keywords that it doesn't support is LPRINT, but there is a much better way to do it with FB any...

There is a new compiler called FreeBasic. It's alot better than PowerBasic, in my opinion. It's almost 100% compatible with QB syntax too. It would be perfectly suited for plotting curves and such, and it's totally compatible with WinXP. Just think of it as QBasic for windows. I can help you out wit...

You can use them to draw on a page in memory, and then display all the graphics at once using PCOPY. Here's a cheap example to show you how it works... :P DEFINT A-Z SCREEN 7, , 0, 1 DO CLS ' clear the backbuffer, Page 0. ' Draw some stuff on the backbuffer FOR R = 1 TO 100 Col = INT(RND * 15) + 1 C...

No, you shouldn't need to reinstall Windows. Actually, there are quite a few links, so here's a direct link to download the installer.

If you want to use C or Java, you'll need to port them... which means that you need to learn the languages. However, there is an alternative. GOTO http://forum.qbasicnews.com/ , register and click on the freeBasic forum. It's a QB syntax compatible win32 compiler. It's still in development, bu...
